This module is intended to build upon but also to move beyond the understanding of the British constitution acquired during the Public Law Module which is delivered in year one of the undergraduate programme. Special emphasis is placed on examining recent and proposed reforms as a way of critically reflecting upon the nature, purpose and future of the British constitution. The module will cover themes such as:

parliamentary supremacy;

a British Bill of Rights;

the electoral system;

the House of Lords;

a written constitution for Britain.
