This module examines the political history of African-Americans since 1945. The course explores the techniques, goals and experiences of the Civil Rights Movement, examining issues of identity politics, leadership and resistance. The course will assess the impact of the Civil Rights movements on the lives of African-Americans since the 1960's, questioning the relative importance of political goals or economic or social equality.
