Through a series of case studies offering a historical perspective, this extension module aims to give students: (i) an overview of changing perceptions of authorship, including an investigation of how literary movements and critical trends have continually redefined the writer-text-reader relationship; and (ii) insight into the complex relationship between the theory and practice of creative writing, focusing on how authors have endeavoured to analyse and contextualise the private and public writing processes in which they themselves have been engaged.
