Module description

Although this module is concerned with the shifts in British literature since 1945, its primary texts are all drawn from the last twenty years: the aim is to introduce students to some of the key features of a range of contemporary fiction, poetry and prose, and to place these within specific theoretical and contextual models, as well as within a sense of a changing tradition of literary form. Key topics to be covered include the representation of sex and sexuality, the changing forms of minority culture in Britain, and the state of British national identity at the start of the twenty-first century.
