This module, with its co-requisite, Approaches to Literature, provides a foundation for advanced literary study. It will introduce students to a range of focal texts from different periods and genres. Students will apply techniques of close, contextual and theoretical reading, continuing and developing methods and ideas initiated in Approaches to Literature. Students will undertake formative essay-writing.
