Semester I:
This part of the linked module examines in detail, with the aid of relevant documents, the decline of the ancien regime during the reign of Louis XVI, followed by equally detailed study, with documentary material, of the political and social history of the Revolution up to the fall of the king (August 1792), with due attention being paid to Church-State relations, civil-military relations, territorial reorganisation, the constitutional and electoral systems, proposals for agrarian reform and the ideology and practice of revolutionary and counter-revolutionary movements.
