Module description

The course begins by consolidating the knowledge of Middle Egyptian acquired the previous year through the reading of a variety of 'set texts'. The earlier and later phases of the language are then studied, in order to illustrate both the beginnings of the written language and its subsequent developments. The course thus makes accessible to students hieroglyphic texts from c2700BC down to the first millennium BC.
