Module description

This module will focus on developing reading and writing skills in Chinese. Whereas Intensive Ab Initio Chinese (Mandarin) III & IV will focus on acquisition of sound grammatical knowledge and developing listening and speaking skills, this module's emphasis is reading and writing. The module aims to equip you with good comprehension of written text extracted from authentic sources of semi-authentic materials and the further use and recognition of Chinese characters. You will be given opportunities to work in a group as well as individually.

Teaching and learning methods

Practical language classes involving both whole-group and small group/pair work activities. Use of computer-based learning and WebCT will be used, where appropriate.
