Module description
This module will build on the knowledge acquired in OA Intensive Japanese L 3 by further developing and consolidating the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. As grammar rules become more complex every new structure will be dealt with in depth whilst some time will be spent on the revision and consolidation of previously acquired skills and knowledge. Further Kanji will also be introduced. Structured but complex language will be taught in the context of situations and personalised topics. Simulation materials will be drawn from authentic sources which will be used to improve and to provide stimuli for the development of both productive and receptive skills.
Aspects of modern Japan will be introduced.
Teaching and learning methods
Practical language classes involving both whole-group and small-group/pair-work activities with emphasis on oral communication, use of visual aids, audio/video recordings and use of language laboratory where appropriate.
