Module description
This module aims to extend receptive and productive skills developed at Advanced Spanish I & II. More sophisticated learning strategies and study methods will be developed to increase independent learning. You will be exposed to a variety of different types of spoken and written texts. You will increase your awareness and use of different registers. Substantial authentic video and audio material will be used as well as newspaper articles and the Internet in order to enhance your knowledge of modern Spain.
By the end of the module you should be able to:
Perform a variety of unpredictable oral and written tasks in Spanish
Deal with complex issues relating to Spanish grammar (morphology / syntax)
Work with an extensive range of Spanish sources, including the Internet and read and understand complex articles from the Spanish press on a wide range of topics
Debate and discuss in Spanish unprepared topics and deliver an oral presentation in Spanish from notes
Understand a discussion between two native speakers and develop an understanding of and competence in various complex registers
Identify and articulate in writing (in Spanish ) knowledge of key aspects of modern Spain
Teaching and learning methods
Practical language classes involving both whole-group and small group/pair work activities, with emphasis on communicative settings, use of visual aids and audio/video recordings and the Internet. Language laboratories may be used where appropriate
