To study one of the most enigmatic products of medieval European literature with a view to examining its place in the Castilian literary canon. The module will also examine the Libro's literary antecedents and will weigh up the contrasting views of the text as social satire, devotional work etc. In addition, the ethics of reading in medieval times will also be examined.
