Starting with a brief historical and geographical background to Hinduism, the module will focus on key concepts, values, religious practices, selective texts, devotional, philosophical and modern movements within the tradition. It will also look at Hinduism in diaspora. By the end of the module the student should be able to: Demonstrate awareness of varied forms of Hinduism; Discuss beliefs and practices and the relationship between the two; Explain the significance of myth, images and symbols and religious language; Discuss the role and function of Hindu sacred texts.
