The specific objectives of the module are: to provide information on the relevant economic theories that are applicable to health economics; to examine the determinants of health care; to understand why market failure makes it necessary for Governments to regulate health care; to demonstrate how economic analysis can inform decisions on health policy; to analyse why economic evaluation is needed, to present various methods of economic evaluation and to demonstrate decision-analytical modelling; explore the practical issues involved when conducting an economic evaluation.
