Module description

This module will introduce students to the basic principles and practice of Event Management. The module combines the techniques of event planning with the practice of event management. It covers: Strategic purpose of events; Organizational and event team issues; Event objectives, venue and design; Milestone Planning and Analysis; Managing risks, health and safety in Events; Events in the context of B2B & B2C; Marketing, PR and the role of the media in event objectives; Event evaluation, measurement and endings as beginnings. These are taught in lectures and supported by in-class exercises and video discussions, and backed up by case study analysis. Students are expected to have completed background reading, work on exercises, and prepare for case studies out of class time.
