This module will introduce students to the basic concepts and theories of Informal Education. Students will understand the history of the development of this field of work and engage with the social values which are implicit. Students will undertake some visits to informal eudcation contexts and make connections between theory and practice. Through discussion and group tasks, students will be encouraged to reflect on their personal values and understand the skills needed by informal education practitioners. They will evaluate informal education initiatives in relation to formal education provision.
