The module examines the development of Citizenship as a concept and a curriculum subject. You will develop their knowledge of the debates surrounding citizenship through an evaluation of research, government publications and other writings in this area. You will identify challenges to the teacher's role through an exploration of classroom conflict, multiculturalism and educational aims. Consideration will be given to related concepts of Political Systems, Human Rights, Children's Rights and Global Citizenship.
