Module description

This module is designed to provide you with an introduction to academic psychology and, more specifically, to the psychology of development. Behaviourist, Cognitive, Psychodynamic, Social Constructionist and Evolutionary perspectives are examined and applied to a series of case studies. These case studies may include debates around `Heredity and Environment', Cognitive Constructivism, `Normality' and Atypical Development and Childhood in the lifespan . They’ll also be the opportunity to examine and assess how these insights are applied to children's development and education.
