The module will include:

  • Historical perspective on policy and practice in inclusion for children with SEN and ASD in particular
  • Current models of inclusion within mainstream and special provision
  • Supporting staff in inclusive settings: roles and responsibilities
  • Social inclusion with children without ASDs, including strategies to develop understanding of friendships and relationships
  • Supporting and informing children about ASDs (those with an ASD and those without an ASD)
  • Academic and curricular issues and priorities for children with ASDs
  • Supporting and informing parents and carers of children in inclusive settings
