This module will introduce and examine issues related to understanding the teaching and learning needs associated with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). You will be introduced to educational theories and models related to SEN whilst also considering the needs of children with SEN within generic and current educational issues. Themes to be covered may include: Understanding difficulties and disabilities, Inclusive Education, Planning to meet needs, Teaching for diversity, Working together in Collaboration for example. You will also be introduced to assessment and curriculum tools that can be applied to the theoretical debates, encouraging theoretical knowledge to be applied to practical situations. There will be an emphasis throughout the module on developing the skills necessary for successful study.
