Module description

This module aims to develop an understanding of the principles of primary care policy and management. It also encourages the application of these principles in students' own future or current working environment. Topics covered include: the nature and definition of primary care; Alma-Ata and the WHO definition of primary health care; the evolution of primary care policy; primary care in an international context; the development of primary care organisations; new forms of primary care provision; professional roles and partnerships in primary care; implications for primary care of NHS reform and reorganisation.
