Module description

This module will examine a similar content to the existing Managing for Service Effectiveness (Social Care) module (08 17366) but will be targeted at strategic social care leaders in user-led, community, voluntary, independent and statutory organisations. It will explore core theory concerning the definition and measurement of outcomes in social care and the application of this theory in both children's and adult services by strategic leaders. The theory and application of evidence based policy will be examined with particular attention to identifying differing stakeholder views on outcomes; user involvement; relevant equality dimensions and the concepts of rights and power. Current central and local government policy is explored as well as the use of outcome frameworks in performance management. A whole systems approach to social care leadership will be critically analysed.
