This level 3 module utilises the principles and concepts developed through pre-requisite modules (Energetics I and II), in two main areas: molecular energies (prediction, measurement and uses) and chemical kinetics. Molecular energies examines topics such as: rotational and vibrational energy levels; absorption and emission of radiation; atomic theory (ground and excited states of atoms); electronic states of molecules; and atomic spectroscopy. The chemical kinetics component of the module is composed of two principal segments: elementary chemical & photochemical reactions and kinetics and mechanisms of complex reactions.
