Module description
This module provides an introduction to Frontier Molecular Orbital (FMO) Methods (pericyclic reactions; cycloaddition reactions; sigmatrophic re-arrangements; electrocyclic reactions) and an introduction to Enzyme Catalysis (enzyme kinetics; enzyme catalysis; examples of the catalytic role of proteins). The associated Laboratory component allows techniques and manipulations associated with synthetic organic chemistry to be further developed and, in some instances, reinforces the lecture material.
