Module description
This module provides an introduction to water quality control, by examining the processes used for the treatment of wastewater and the production of drinking water. Initially the basic concepts of each process will be examined, with the lectures emphasising the theoretical aspects and the tutorial exercises providing illustrations of design practice. The individual unit processes will then be integrated into process streams that typically would be used to produce drinking water. A brief introduction to current European and UK legislation will be given. Similar sequences will be followed for wastewater treatment and sewage sludge disposal.
