Module description

The aim of the module is to enhance students' knowledge and understanding of the mathematics and scientific principles related to mechanics in the context of Civil Engineering structures and to develop their ability to apply this knowledge in a number of topics. The module is concerned with three main areas of applications: general principles, the mechanical properties of material (mainly steel and concrete) and the basic principles of structural analysis. Where relevant, historical examples are embedded into the module in order to provide context for the taught material.
