Student talking on telephoneAs an international student, you will have access to the support you need to enjoy your time at the University and to focus on your studies.

International student advisors

Meeting and greeting

A special programme for international students during Welcome Week involves you in University life right from the time you arrive. From meeting you at the airport to organising social events where you can meet other students, we do everything to make sure that you enjoy your time at the University from the start.

English language support

Before your course starts

The University offers pre-sessional English courses for students whose IELTS score does not meet the entry requirements; if you successfully attend one of these courses you will not need to retake IELTS.

During your studies

Our English for International Students Unit offers free English classes during the academic year; these include academic English, grammar, and vocabulary. You can also get individual advice about your writing and other language needs, receive answers to your questions by e-mail, and download more than 100 self-study materials to improve your English. At the start of your studies you take an academic English language assessment so that we can advise you on your individual needs.
