Our guided campus tours take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11.00am and 2.00pm. Tours are conducted by students currently studying at the University, who will give you an insight into being a student at Birmingham.
Tours last approximately forty five minutes to an hour and include all the main facilities on campus, including the Guild of Students, Munrow Sports Centre and Main Library. The tour will require you to walk round the campus so comfortable footwear is advised. If you, or anyone who will be accompanying you, has a disability or any other special needs please advise us when booking your place. This will allow us to make all the necessary arrangements to ensure your visit is as easy as possible.
Please note that the tours do not include visits to individual departments or halls of residence.
If you wish to visit a particular academic department, please contact the department of interest directly to see if this is possible, but please note this cannot always be guaranteed. All contact details can be found on our website. If it is not possible to visit an academic department, please note that our next Open Day will be held in June 2013, when most departments will be open and Admissions Tutors and students will be on hand to answer any queries you may have.
Accommodation show flat
We also have a show flat which is available to view after the tour and will give you an insight into what student accommodation looks like. This is based at Shackleton Hall on the Vale site approximately 15-20 minutes walk from the main campus. Speak to your campus tour guide on the day who will advise you how to get there.
Alternatively, there is a mock student bedroom on the main campus which the campus tour guide will be happy to direct you to.

Our campus tours are primarily for prospective students and therefore we advise that you only bring one or two guests with you; this will enable us to maximise the number of places available. Places are limited and it is advisable to book at least one week in advance.
Due to high demand for places on our tours, we cannot guarantee that places will be available for the date you wish to attend. Therefore, please make sure you provide an alternative date and time when making your booking.
Self-guided tour brochure
If you cannot make one of our scheduled campus tours, you are welcome on to campus at any time to have a look around independently. We have a self-guided tour brochure which you can download and bring with you to help you find your way around.
Campus tour cancellation policy
If we need to cancel or change your campus tour, whenever possible we will try to contact you in advance to let you know. Please supply us with a contact telephone number when booking your tour so that this is possible. Please note that on rare occasions, due to circumstances that are beyond our control, we may have to cancel tours without prior notice to visitors. On such occasions the Student Recruitment team takes no responsibility for any inconvenience caused or costs incurred to visitors. We can, however, provide a self guided tour brochure for you to conduct a tour independently.
In the event that you are no longer available to attend a campus tour, please let us know as soon as possible so that your place/s can be made available for other visitors.
