Summer Residentials

Student happy

Summer Residential programmes provide a fantastic opportunity for able students with no history of higher education in their family to consider university as a viable option for their future, and to experience it first hand by staying on campus and going to lectures like normal students. At Birmingham, we run these events for students in year 10 and year 12.

Year 10 Unifest Experience
We are part of the Birmingham Aimhigher Partnership and have 50 places available on this programme for 2013.

Year 10 Your Future - Your Choice!
New for 2013, this event will have two streams - our well established Health Professions programme and a new Humanities and Social Sciences programme.

Year 12 Academic Enrichment Programme
The AEP helps to encourage young people who live in the West Midlands region with no family history of higher education to apply to a leading reseach university, supporting and guiding them in the process.

The programme has four main components; a week-long residential on the University Campus in the summer of year 12; ongoing, one-to-one mentoring from current undergraduates; study-skills sessions at key points in year 13; and a celebratory graduation event.

Year 12 Higher Education Insight Programme
The HEI Residential is designed to raise the aspirations of academically gifted year 12 students from non-traditional backgrounds who live in areas outside of the West Midlands region. There are three broad academic streams that students can apply to and all costs for the residential will be met by the University of Birmingham.

Unifest 2012 student  "I just wanted to say thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to go to Unifest at the University of Birmingham. I really enjoyed it there, it was a memorable experience. I had a lot of fun and learnt a lot. I also gained a lot about student life at uni. I made a lot of new friends and I am definitely looking forward to doing higher education in the future. I was really upset when we had to go back home on the last day, because I was quite attached with all the loving people at Unifest and all the helpful Ambassadors."

Unifest 2012 student "Everything was fantastic, especially the lectures. It was so good the time flew!"
