Visiting your school or college

Students attending a lectureWe are happy to visit your school or college to lead a range of higher education related activities including presentations, careers related events and parents evenings. The aim of these sessions may be to inform, guide or motivate teachers, parents and students. The information set out below provides a taste of what we can offer.

Year 12 and 13 sixth form / college students

The right information and advice at the right time can be of great benefit to Year 12 and Year 13 students faced with major decisions about their future. We have designed the range of talks below to deliver this information in a highly professional, objective and interactive way.

  • Year 12 Induction: How to make the most of Year 12
  • The benefits of going to university
  • Choosing courses and universities
  • UCAS procedures
  • Tips for personal statements
  • Higher education finances and tips for budgeting
  • Student life - with input from a current Birmingham student
  • University of Birmingham and our courses

GCSE students

Students looking at a manequinPresentations to these year groups are more generic in nature and focus on increasing awareness of what higher education has to offer, helping those intending to go to university to understand requirements at GCSE level, and advising them on choices regarding their Post-16 education. We can provide talks and workshops for Year 9-11 students covering the following subjects:

  • The benefits of going to university
  • The choice of A Level subjects and other qualifications

Careers conventions

Careers fairWe attend the majority of UCAS careers conventions as well as other conventions which serve a number of schools and/or colleges (especially in those regions not served by a UCAS NextStep network or careers company event).

Unfortunately, we are unable to attend small, single-institution careers conventions, but would be happy to discuss other methods of supporting your event.
