Once you have accepted your offer

I have accepted my offer but have not been made unconditional? Why is that?

Accepting your conditional offer does not automatically make you unconditional. You still need to meet the conditions for your offer to our satisfaction. We won't be able to make an offer unconditional or issue a CAS statement without you meeting your conditions.

When will I receive a registration pack from Birmingham?

You will be sent a registration email once you become unconditionally accepted by the university. Registration details will be automatically sent to you by email prior to the start of your course.

Your department will send you joining information (induction/timetable/book lists etc) prior to the start of your course. Please contact them for further information.

Can I change my course after I have already chosen another course as my firm/insurance choice?

Please contact the Admissions Officer for the course you are interested in changing to as soon as possible. Some courses may not have any vacancies and as such you may need to wait to see if the course enters clearing in July/August. If you are able to swap courses, an amended offer will be issued via a hard copy and on UCAS track. Conditions of offer may be different for your new course. You should check these as soon as possible.

Can I change my course after I have already been accepted unconditionally onto another course?

Please contact the Admissions Officer for the course you are interested in changing to as soon as possible. Please note that being accepted onto one course does not mean that you will automatically be eligible for another course; there may be extra conditions you need to satisfy before you can transfer onto the new programme. If term has already started, you may be asked to defer your entry to the new course to the following year. You should check with the Admissions Tutor in the appropriate school or department to find out if this is the case. Visit our Academic Services support website for more information about changing courses.

Can I defer my application?

If you wish to defer your application please put your request in writing/via email so we can confirm that it is okay with your Admissions Tutor. When a deferment is acceptable we are happy to defer for one year only. Please let us know of your decision to defer as soon as possible so we can offer your place to another applicant. Please note an offer can only be deferred once.

When will I find out about my time table, reading lists etc?

Timetables, course content, reading lists, etc. This information is sent to you from the department of the course you are registered with. This will usually happen once you are made unconditional with us. Please check course finder for Academic contact details.

Will I be able to pay in installments?

You can pay your tuition by either monthly or termly Direct Debit instalments.

CAS

The following are CAS queries received by admissions and the advice and answers we provide to applicants.

Who do I contact if I need to amend my CAS statement?

You should email admissionscasenquiries@contacts.bham.ac.uk if you notice any incorrect information in your CAS as soon as possible.

I want to change my programme, how does this affect my CAS statement?

If you want to change your programme you will first need to contact your named Admissions Officer (details in your offer). If your programme change is permitted and you have already been issued a CAS, the Admissions Officer will  ensure that your CAS is updated accordingly. You should be aware however that you will not receive a new/updated CAS.  Updates are done electronically only and this  information will be shared with UKBA.  We will confirm to you via email once an update has been made, and you will then be able to use your existing CAS.  The CAS number will remain the same and valid for use.

I have paid my tuition fee but my CAS does not show this. Can you send an updated CAS?

A CAS will only show those fees that have been paid before the CAS is issued. Any payments made after it has been issued will not be visible to you.  These payments are recorded on the electronic CAS record, however no new or updated CAS will be sent to you. As long as the Finance Office confirm receipt of your payments, you should be assured that your CAS record will be updated and this information is shared with UKBA so you do not need a new or updated CAS statement

My CAS statement does not show the college name of the University I attended.  Does this need to be added to my CAS?

We do not enter the individual college names onto CAS statements as this is not required by UKBA.  We only need to enter the awarding institution.

My CAS shows I am doing 0 hours per week.  Can you please correct this?

We do not need to input amount of hours per week.  Your course is stated as being full time and this is the only information required by UKBA with regard to approximate amount of weekly hours.

I have a new passport.  Do you need to input this onto a new CAS statement?

We will need to update your CAS so you should send a copy of your passport personal details page to us to admissionscasenquiries@contacts.bham.ac.uk.  You should be aware however that once a CAS has been issued, we do not issue new/updated ones if an update is made.  Updates are done electronically only and this  information will be shared with UKBA.  We will confirm to you via email once an update has been made, and you will then be able to use your existing CAS.  The CAS number will remain the same and valid for use.

My visa application has been refused and I want a new CAS. Who should I contact?

You should contact us at admissionscasenquiries@contacts.bham.ac.uk if you find you have been refused a visa as soon as possible.
