This course introduces students to the use of information systems in business environments. Although it focuses on financial information management issues it introduces students to more general aspects of information systems theory and practice.
In the second semester the course builds on the earlier material allowing students to explore practical impacts and implications of information systems design, development, implementation and use in modern business environments.
By the end of the module the student will be able to:
Understand the modern business computing environment
Appreciate the role, function and operation of internal controls within a business information system
Understand the issues related to the role of information management in an organisation
Understand the nature and role of ERP systems, database use and automation in accounting and business.
