The dissertation enables you to demonstrate the application of your knowledge and skills in the fields of public health and epidemiology. It is designed to improve your ability to plan, carry out and report a research study addressing a question that is relevant to public health. You will have gained the necessary skills in the three public health research modules in Years 1, 2 and 3 (Public Health Epidemiology and Statistics, Public Health Research Skills and Public Health Research in Practice). This module will develop your creative, planning, analytical, evaluative, writing, presentation and organisational skills.

You will need to: (1) identify an area of interest; (2) explore the area in depth;.(3) define a research question; (4) experience the process of producing knowledge; (5) manage a project from beginning to end; and (6) consolidate your communication, information-seeking and intellectual skills.
