Introduction to Public Health Research

Year 1 Semester 1

This module will introduce the science of epidemiology (patterns, causes, and effects of health and disease conditions in populations), methods for measuring disease in populations, qualitative research (e.g. interviews to understand why something happened), statistics and health information relevant to public health. You will learn how to identify the key components of a research question and summarise, interpret and manipulate data. This module will lay the foundations for the Public Health Research Skills module in Year 2 and the Dissertation in Year 3.
