Year Three

The module enables students to pursue an in-depth investigation into a topic integral to their programme of study which is selected by the researcher in negotiation with their tutor. The module will proceed via individual tutorials during which the student will be supported in developing their research skills in the processes of: selecting and executing an appropriate research plan; increasing awareness of related substantive issues in the area of inquiry; increasing understanding of the theoretical context of the inquiry; increasing understanding of the methodological and ethical issues in the research; increasing understanding of research analysis and reporting, and researching reasoned and justified conclusions. The total contact time between student and tutor (including the reading of drafts and marking of work) is five hours.
