Techniques in Neuroscience

Description

This module will cover a variety of techniques used to investigate the role of the nervous system in controlling human behaviour, with an emphasis on neural control of movement.

By the end of the course students will:

  1. understand the physiological basis of the various techniques used to stimulate and record from the human nervous system. This will include fMRI, TMS, EEG, MEG, EMG, and physical/sensory perturbation techniques
  2. be able to critically evaluate orginal neuroscience literature
  3. be able to design an appropriate experiment, given a particular question pertaining to the human nervous system
