Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship Scheme

The University of Birmingham is pleased to announce its participation in the Eliahou Dangoor Scholarships scheme, which was launched in 2010 following a generous donation from Dr Naim Dangoor.

The University of Birmingham will offer 44 scholarships for the 2012/13 academic year. The scholarships will be valued at £1000, will be tenable for one year and can be held in conjuction with other bursaries and scholarships offered by the University.

Am I eligible?

In order to be eligible to apply for an Eliahou Dangoor Scholarship, you must:

  • Be entering your first year of study at the University of Birmingham in September 2012.
  • Be of UK nationality, paying the full rate of tuition fee.
  • Be registered as a full time student.
  • Be undertaking a STEM subject within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences or the College of Life and Environmental Sciences.

  • Have an assessed household income of £25,000 or below and therefore qualify for the full Living Cost Grant for 2012/13.

When is the deadline? 

Completed application forms must be submitted by Friday 31 August 2012.

How is the scholarship selected?

The applications will be considered by a selection panel during the first 2012/13 academic term. Selection criteris will include:

  • Academic achievement (AS Level results/A Level results or equivalent)
  • Level of commitment to your own personal learning and development
  • Financial need

How and when will I be notified of the outcome?

Following the meeting of the selection panel, you will be contacted before the end of the first 2012/13 academic term. All applicants will be notified of the outcome via email. Successful candidates will also receive written notification in the form of a letter with a request for a note of thanks to be forwarded to the Student Funding Office for onward transmission to Dr Dangoor. Once the note of thanks has been received the scholarship funds will be released into the designated accounts of the successful candidates.
