The Bury Hometown Award is aimed at providing financial support to students with verified household incomes of below £42,600 and who were resident in the Bury Council geographical area during their A Levels or equivalent qualification.
This Award has been created by an alumnus of the University originally from the Bury Council geographical area, grateful for the public funding he received to study at Birmingham, which helped him to build his own career. The Award, which will run for a limited period, is accordingly intended to assist one new student annually, who is from his own hometown and from a modest family income background, and who has similarly chosen undergraduate study at Birmingham to help them achieve their full potential and underpin their own career
Value of Award
This scholarship is valued at £1,500 per academic year, subject to successful academic progression.
This scholarship is open to UK students who meet the following criteria:
- Domiciled in the UK
- During A-Levels (or equilavent qualification) their home address was located within the Bury Council georgraphical area
- Have a verified household income of £42,600 or less
In the case that more applicaitons are received than meet the above eligibilty criteria, the award will be made to any applicant whose home address is located in the town of Radcliffe.
How to Apply
The Bury Hometown award is currently closed for applications for 2016/17. Applications will reopen in October 2017 for the 2017/18 academic year.
