Module description

This module, with its co-requisite, 'Texts in History', provides students with a wide-ranging introduction to literary studies at university level. Through lectures and seminars, students will gain experience of texts from several different periods and genres, and will practise techniques of close and contextual reading. A number of theoretical approaches to literary study will also be introduced. Students will undertake formative essay-writing.
