Module description

The module provides an exploration of key issues in language acquisition, variation and change, mainly with reference to English. It expands on the coverage of child language and of variation in language according to both regional and social factors introduced in the Level C modules Language Works A and Language Works B. It introduces students to competing models of language change and languages in contact (pidgins and creoles, bilingualism, diglossia).
