Module description

These modules cover the struggle of African states to survive, make a mark and prosper in today's global markets. We shall look at theories of urbanisation, urban life and industrialisation, both in historical and contemporary perspectives, and relate these theoretical perspectives to the histories and actualities of life in African towns and cities. We also examine the conditions of contemporary urban life in African cities and towns, for example, work, household organisation and networks, housing, community politics and environmental issues.
