Module description

The module begins with a hands-on initiation into the cuneiform writing system, and a graduated introduction to the structure of the Sumerian language. The first part of the year is devoted to study of shorter royal inscriptions of the Third Dynasty of Ur. In the second part of the year, examples of somewhat more complex Royal inscriptions of the Second Dynasty of Lagash are studied.
