Module description

This intensive course is designed to introduce the student with little or no knowledge of the language to the Portuguese-speaking world. It aims to develop fundamental communication skills (understanding, speaking, reading and writing), through a variety of classroom activities. It provides, at the same time, exposure to the culture and civilization of the Portuguese-speaking world, through readings, music and film in written and spoken registers of European and Brazilian Portuguese.
The four weekly hours include Communicative Language (2 hours per week); grammar classes (1 hour per week). The fourth hour is used to develop vocabulary and structure through exercises and to develop comprehension skills and to provide an introduction to Portuguese-Speaking World literature, history and cultures.
