Module description

This course will examine the portrayal of women in C17th French prose fiction, predominantly focussing on works written by women of this period. In the first term, examine various prose fiction texts including a novel, a ‘hybrid’ text by La Fontaine and a series of fairy tales. The themes, ideas and rhetorical techniques which we shall analyse will all be set in the context of women's lives in C17th France.
