Module description

Paraphrase consists in re-writing a French text - in this case either fictional or journalistic - in one's own words. The module will focus on the techniques for doing this at a high level rather than simply reproducing the original word for word. The students shall therefore be working with the tutor on vocabulary in the first instance, but then on changing structures and modes of expression, a more challenging form of the exercise. Students will do practical work on a range of texts both in class and in their own time in preparation for the classes. They will find that their vocabulary will become much more extensive and also that they learn how to use their French in the most flexible way possible.
