Module description

This module will examine the contribution of the Dead Sea Scrolls to our understanding of the history of the Second Temple Period. Particular emphasis will be placed on the nature of the collection and various attempts to classify the material. A variety of scholarly assessments of the social realities reflected in the Qumran texts and the site of Qumran will be critically evaluated.
