Module description

Students negotiate a placement involving a minimum of 70 hours work in a setting of their own choice as approved by the module coordinator. The placement is usually undertaken in the period following the first year examinations. However, it may be undertaken in term time (though must not interfere with timetabled sessions) or during the vacation in the UK or abroad, as a block or in serial sessions. This module offers students the opportunity to identify skills that one might need to acquire for their chosen career path and to reflect on how the skills they are developing in their degree relate to these. It also offers students the opportunity to develop their own key skills particularly in the area of Communication and Working with Others. Many students will use this opportunity to explore potential employment contexts.
