Module description

This specialist pathway module provides students with the knowledge, skills and values to begin to work effectively with children and families. The module will encourage students to critically analyse and reflect upon the complex nature of child-care practice and enable them to begin to practise as child-centred, competent and confident child-care professionals. Current research evidence will be reviewed and integrated into the module to assist the process of students' reflective learning and students will see how the boundaries of knowledge and practice are advanced through research. Throughout this module students will identify and address issues of oppression and discrimination in their work with children and families to ensure that they can understand the different needs of various ages and social and economic backgrounds of children and their families.
