Module description

This module aims to introduce practitioners to the Tavistock (Esther Bick) model of infant and child observation. At the heart of this model is an attempt to understand the child¿s experience of their world through the eyes and sensations of the child. The module aims to develop skills not only in observing infants or small children but also those skills associated with the concepts of mind-mindedness and inter-subjectivity. The course necessitates practitioners observing (from a ¿neutral¿ and passive position) an infant with her / his carer over a period of 6 one hour sessions.
