Module description

In addition to developing an understanding of the underlying concepts in qualitative and survey research and developing a range of skills in this area, this module aims to enable advanced researchers and managers to commission, initiate and/or conduct social research projects within their research or working environment and to act as critical consumers of research projects. Throughout the stress is on comprehension and application. The module is divided into two blocks: I - Qualitative Methods includes: theory of qualitative research; qualitative research methods; mixing methods; analysis of qualitative data; practice experience of collecting, analysing and presentating qualitative data. II - Survey and Questionnaire Design includes: survey design and methodology; sampling theory and sampling methods; questionnaire design; interviewing; attitude scaling; analysis and presentation of results.
