The course aims to introduce the central issues and policies in relation to processes of urbanization and urban development in the south. In particular it aims to:
1. Address the nature of urban growth and development in the south
2. Outline the dimensions of urban poverty
3. Be familiar with the range of poicly options available to confront urban poverty
